Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data this site collects, on what legal basis it is processed, how long it is retained and which rights you can exercise under the UK GDPR and Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Collection is kept to a minimum by design. Last updated: August 2026.

1. Data controller

The controller is the party operating and publishing this independent information site about Sekabet. For any request concerning personal data — exercising your rights, questions about this policy, reports — you can write through the form or address given in the contact section of the site.

One necessary clarification: we are not the gaming operator. Any data you provide to Sekabet during registration, identity verification or payment is processed by the operator as a separate, independent controller under its own privacy policy. We have neither visibility of nor control over that processing. The relationship between you and this site is described in our terms and conditions.

2. What data we collect

This is an editorial site: we do not ask you to register, there is no member area, and we use no advertising or profiling trackers. The data involved falls into three categories:

  • Essential cookies — a technical cookie storing your choice on the banner so it is not shown again on every visit.
  • Server logs — automatic records generated by every web request: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and operating system, referrer. These serve security and diagnostics.
  • Aggregate statistics — traffic data in aggregated, non-identifying form (page views, general origin, device type), used only to understand which content works.

We collect no names, email addresses, phone numbers, identity documents or payment details, because no function of this site would need them.

Cookies used

NamePurposeDuration
Cookie preferenceStores the choice made on the banner (essential only / all)6-12 months
Technical session cookiesSite operation and browsing securitySession duration
Analytics cookies (if enabled)Aggregate visit counting, without profilingUp to 13 months

You can delete or block cookies at any time from your browser settings. Blocking technical cookies may impair some page functions.

3. Legal basis for processing

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for server logs and technical cookies: securing the infrastructure, preventing abuse and diagnosing faults is a legitimate interest of the controller, balanced against your rights and limited to strictly necessary data.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for analytics cookies and any tool that is not strictly necessary. Consent is freely given, specific and withdrawable at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — in the residual cases where retention of certain data is required by law.

4. How long we keep data

We apply the storage limitation principle: data stays only for as long as the purpose it was collected for requires.

DataRetention
Server logs (IP, timestamp, user agent)30-90 days, except during security incident investigations
Cookie preference6-12 months, after which the banner reappears
Aggregate statisticsUp to 13 months in non-identifying form

5. Recipients and international transfers

We do not sell, trade or share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Technical suppliers necessary to deliver the service may process data on our behalf as processors (Art. 28): the hosting provider, any content delivery network, and the supplier of statistics tooling.

Pages load web fonts from a third-party provider: that request transmits your IP address and technical browser data to the provider, exactly as any ordinary HTTP request does. Some of these parties may process data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the safeguards set out in Chapter V of the GDPR: an adequacy decision, or standard contractual clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable, plus supplementary measures where required.

6. Your rights

As a data subject you may exercise the following rights under Articles 15-22:

  • Access — find out whether we process data about you and obtain a copy.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — have data removed in the cases provided for.
  • Restriction — request suspension of processing where the legal conditions are met.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests, on grounds relating to your particular situation.
  • Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time, with future effect.

Requests are made through the address in the contact section and answered within one month, extendable by two months where a case is complex. Since we collect no directly identifying data, in many cases there may be nothing linkable to you at all: where that applies, we will tell you and explain why.

7. Complaint to a supervisory authority

If you believe the processing of your data breaches the law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow. Readers in the European Economic Area may instead contact the data protection authority of the member state where they live or work. Readers elsewhere — including India, Pakistan, South Africa, Canada and Australia — should contact the data protection or privacy regulator competent in their own jurisdiction, whose powers and procedures will differ from those described here. You may also bring proceedings before the competent courts.

8. Children's data

The site carries content intended for an adult audience and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors and run no activity aimed at that audience. If a parent or guardian believes a minor has submitted personal data through the site, they can report it to us and we will check and delete it. Parental control tools for blocking access to gambling content are described on our responsible gaming page.

9. Data security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk (Art. 32): encrypted transmission over HTTPS/TLS on every page, continuous updating of server and platform software, restricted and protected administrative access, and data minimisation as a design principle. No IT system can guarantee absolute security, however: in the event of a breach posing a risk to individuals' rights, we will act in accordance with Articles 33 and 34.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect legal, technical or organisational changes. The version in force is always the one published on this page, with the update date shown at the top; substantial changes will be flagged clearly. We suggest reviewing it periodically alongside our terms and conditions.
